Dev Log – May 11, 2025: Loading In and Speaking Up

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, grandmothers, mother-figures, and supporters of creativity and chaos alike. ❤️
We hope you’re taking a moment to rest — or make something terrifying with your kids.

What We Worked On This Week
Things are starting to feel like a real game.

This week in No One Leaves the Field, we built our first playable build and layered in several core systems:

  • Loading Screen – We now transition cleanly between scenes and sessions.

  • Localization System – The game is now ready to support multiple languages (and creepy glyphs, too).

  • Item Interaction – The system for interacting with objects is in. Right now, it works for opening doors… for now.

  • Dialogue Box – A text-only system for inner monologue and in-world prompts. The player has a voice now—even if it’s quiet.

What’s Coming Next
This coming week we’ll be:

  • Fine-tuning the interaction system

  • Expanding it to support more object types

  • Beginning the placement of key landmarks like the dried well and the outhouse — pieces that add depth (and dread) to the world

Studio Notes
