Shape Swarm Devlog – Main Mode Complete, Infinite Mode Expands Before Launch

This week marks a major milestone for Shape Swarm.

The Save the Colony main game mode is now complete and fully playable from start to finish. Stage-based music has been integrated across the run, and the full gameplay loop is functioning end-to-end. This gives us a stable backbone for the release build and lets us focus on polish and tuning moving forward.

Alongside that progress, Infinite Mode is now up and running and entering its refinement phase. Like Save the Colony, shapes are introduced gradually so the difficulty ramps naturally—but instead of reaching a final objective, the swarm keeps evolving. Enemy numbers increase. Their strength escalates. The pressure never stops.

Your goal: survive as long as possible and push for a new high score.

We’ve also begun designing the Architect Game Manager, our experimental mode where players shape the evolution of the swarm themselves. Instead of reacting to difficulty changes, you’ll choose them:

  • Does the swarm get faster?

  • Stronger?

  • More complex shapes?

  • New enemy behaviors?

Each run becomes a strategic decision space under your control.

Because Architect Mode is experimental, it may release in an early development state. It will absolutely be playable at launch, but we expect to iterate on balance and progression through post-release updates as players explore its possibilities.

Overall, we are making strong forward progress toward the April 14th release window, and the game is rapidly moving from feature-complete into polish territory.
