Three incredible indies worth discovering this week.
Hello Saga Companions!
Every week I love shining a spotlight on games that don’t always get the attention they deserve — small teams with big ideas, experimental mechanics, beautiful art, or stories that stick with you long after you log off.
This week’s Hidden Gems lineup features:
🔹 A mind-bending movement-recording puzzle-action game
🔹 A psychological interactive novel about a mysterious floppy disk
🔹 A physics-driven space mining adventure with tough decisions
Let’s dig in.

🎮 Hidden Gem #1 — MotionRec
Developer: HANDSUM
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2602230/MotionRec/
MotionRec is a recording-based puzzle action game where you progress through stages by recording and playing back your own movements. You guide Rec, a civilization-recording robot wandering a devastated world ruled by machines.
Why it’s special
This game is built entirely around one brilliant mechanic:
Record your motion → replay it somewhere else → break the rules of the level.

Walk, run, jump, climb — then record.
Play that movement back in a new spot and suddenly you’re reaching platforms, heights, and areas that would be impossible otherwise.
You can only play back your movements a limited number of times midair, refreshed when you hit the ground, so every level becomes a clever little logic puzzle.
Team: HANDSUM inc.
Pixel art: m7kenji
Composer: KyoheiFujita
A smart, elegant concept executed with style.

❄️ Hidden Gem #2 — Snowfall’s Mystery
Developer: Sempiternal Rain
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3582360/Snowfalls_Mystery/
Snowfall’s Mystery is a psychological interactive novel about a student-programmer, Elliot, who receives a mysterious floppy disk in the winter of 1999.
Inside the disk is a strange messenger program that seems to know far more about him than any normal software should.
As the conversations deepen, so does the insight into Elliot’s mind — and his struggle with mental health, isolation, and ambition.
Why it’s special

This is a beautifully minimalistic narrative game that embraces:
-
✦ Psychological depth
-
✦ Philosophical questions
-
✦ Interactive storytelling
-
✦ A tension-filled two-color aesthetic
-
✦ Two endings that reflect your influence on Elliot
A short, haunting experience that stays with you.

🚀 Hidden Gem #3 — Deep Space Exploitation
Developer: JuhrJuhr
Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3656660/Deep_Space_Exploitation/
Deep Space Exploitation is a space mining game built around 2D physics, fully destructible asteroids, and a narrative of survival inside a ruthless corporate system.
You pilot a mining ship in deep space, blasting chunks of asteroid, choosing your tools, and upgrading your equipment — all while deciding whether to obey corporate rules or carve your own path.
Why it’s special

It mixes satisfying arcade-like physics with narrative choices and resource management:
-
💥 Chunky pixel-art explosions
-
⛏ Fully destructible environments
-
🛠 Equipment loadout decisions that matter
-
📜 A story about exploitation, survival, and pushing back against the system
It’s tight, focused, and surprisingly atmospheric for such a small indie.
