Most horror games hand you a weapon. Get Out! – A “Very Bad Dreams” Story starts by taking your hands. You wake up in a straitjacket, hood over your head, locked inside an asylum that was never meant to feel alive — and that restraint isn’t just part of the setup — it’s a central mechanic.

Developed by CREATIVE VR3D — which the studio describes as a very small, largely solo-run team — Get Out! is a VR-only survival-horror escape game set in the “Very Bad Dreams” universe. You play Dean, trapped in a decaying asylum turned death trap. Per the developer’s description, something is already moving through the corridors — and it knows you’re awake.
Bound From the Opening Moment

The straitjacket is the hook. With your hands locked, you can’t fight your way out the easy way. According to the developer’s description, you solve disturbing puzzles, explore the facility, and uncover what went wrong in the experiments that spawned the nightmarish creatures now roaming the corridors. The store page frames the loop around hide, listen, fight, and run, but the core tension comes from being restricted while something hunts you.
It’s a recognizable 80s slasher pitch: the developer leans into grindhouse VHS grain, flickering lights, and analog grit. But the restraint is what separates it from a standard haunted-asylum walk.
VR Only, Across Two Platforms
Get Out! is VR-only — there is no flat-screen mode. It first launched on PSVR2 in 2025 before arriving on Steam on July 31, 2026, where it’s Windows-only. CREATIVE VR3D has tested it with Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Quest 3S, Oculus Rift, and Rift S, and notes that compatibility with untested headsets can’t be guaranteed. If you own compatible haptic hardware, the game also supports bHaptics with more than 40 different interactions.
What Steam Players Are Saying
With the Steam release only a week old, the review pool is small. As of early August 2026, Get Out! holds a Positive rating on Steam across 46 reviews (45 positive, 1 negative), with all 35 English-language reviews positive. That’s an encouraging early signal rather than a settled consensus — the kind of sample that can shift as more players, and more hardware setups, come online.

The game also includes two DLC additions: Dean’s Dream, a memory sequence told from a very different perspective, and Soundtrack Mode, a retro score from CREATIVE VR3D.
