With the April 14, 2026 Steam launch of Shape Swarm quickly approaching, development is entering its final polish phase. This fast-paced bullet heaven survival game challenges players to hold back an evolving geometric swarm while the colony fleet escapes. This week’s updates focus on achievements, scoring improvements, and final gameplay tuning ahead of release.

Separate High Scores Now Track Each Game Mode
This week we separated high scores by play mode, which means there are now three different score targets to chase depending on how you play. As a result, each mode offers its own challenge—and its own leaderboard to master.
Steam Achievements Added Ahead of Launch

We also added Steam Achievements to the game. Right now there are 9 achievements covering:
-
trying each game mode
-
reaching key level milestones
-
surviving important run thresholds
-
major progression moments like saving the colony
For now, this creates a strong foundation for progression goals at launch. However, we may expand the achievement set later where it makes sense.
Final Playtesting and Gameplay Balance Underway
From here through release, the focus shifts to playtesting and polish. Specifically, we are:
-
confirming power-ups behave correctly
-
verifying enemy shapes evolve as expected
-
improving pacing and difficulty balance
-
squashing remaining bugs
At this stage, the goal is simple: make sure the game feels fast, readable, and fun from start to finish.

Three Game Modes Available at Launch
If you are new here, Shape Swarm is a fast-paced bullet-heaven survival game where you hold the line against an evolving geometric swarm long enough for the colony fleet to escape.
The game launches with three playable modes:
-
Save the Colony – survive long enough for the fleet to escape
-
To Infinity – endless survival against the swarm
-
Swarm Architect – control how enemies evolve and test your own creation
