Most horror games hand you a flashlight. Friday Night hands you a camcorder and a question. You return to the mansion where your family died, switch on your microphone, and ask the thing still inside who it is. Then you keep the camera rolling no matter what answers.
Developed by Priskon, Friday Night is a first-person horror exploration game built around voice recognition. You play someone who, after the authorities went silent on a family murder, went back into the mansion alone — armed only with a camcorder — to record what really happened.
The Mansion Speaks Back
The hook is the microphone. According to the developer, you use voice recognition to speak to the spirit inside the mansion — the opening beat has you let the quiet settle before asking your first question. It’s a deliberate inversion of the genre: instead of hiding from the threat, you talk to it.
Around that core, the game layers investigation. You collect hidden notes — newspaper articles that never saw daylight, a brother’s account of his nightmare — and solve the puzzles your family left behind to block whatever was chasing them. Priskon frames the loop as exploration, note collection, and puzzle-solving rather than combat.
Found Footage, First Person
The camcorder is more than a prop. Recording is built into the premise: whatever attacked your family is still inside, and you’re there to capture evidence of what happened. Paired with the microphone mechanic, that gives Friday Night a found-footage angle where investigating the haunting also means documenting it.
It’s a recognizable strain of modern indie horror — quiet investigation, analog grain, and the slow realization that the house remembers what happened to your family.
What Steam Players Are Saying
Friday Night launched on Steam on August 21, 2026, and its early reception is positive. As of August 27, Steam lists 85% of its 14 user reviews as positive. With such a small pool, that percentage could change quickly as more players make their way through the mansion.
The game is currently $3.59 during a 10% introductory discount, with the launch offer scheduled to end September 4.
