Digital Sagas Devlog: NOLTF Demo Updates & Shape Swarm Sale

So where have we been for the last two weeks?

Alaska.

We took some time off and went on a cruise, which meant a short break from our day jobs, game development, and posting articles. Alaska is beautiful this time of year, and we also had a chance to stop in Victoria, B.C. in Canada.

Now that we are back, here is what has been happening.

Shape Swarm Summer Sale

Shape Swarm is currently participating in the Steam Summer Sale and is 20% off.

If you have been waiting to jump into some neon arcade bullet heaven chaos, now is a great time to check it out: Shape Swarm

No One Leaves the Field Demo Updates

We have also been making updates to the demo for No One Leaves the Field.

These updates include:

  • A smaller, more manageable map

  • New hiding places to avoid the Scarecrow

  • New areas to explore, including a wood shed that can be used for hiding

  • Updates to the map generation logic

The goal is to make the demo feel tighter, more readable, and more focused while still keeping the tension of being hunted through the wheat field.

We still have a few more updates to make, but once those are complete, we plan to bring the updated demo to Steam. Look for future updates to be announced as we get closer.

Tactical Dungeon Crawler Prototype

We have also started work on a new Tactical Dungeon Crawler prototype.

We are hoping to have a full prototype together in the next few weeks. This RPG will use tactical mechanics for turn-based movement, along with deck builder mechanics for actions and abilities.

The current idea would place this as our next major project after Lost Colony, assuming the prototype comes together the way we hope.

More to come if the prototype pans out.

IGDA San Diego Demo Days

We also participated in IGDA San Diego Demo Days.

We set up a table alongside twenty-some other developers and demoed No One Leaves the Field and Shape Swarm. The turnout was great, and San Diego definitely has a lot of talented developers making exciting games.

We received a lot of useful feedback for No One Leaves the Field, and that feedback will help guide us as we continue working toward the main game.

We will also be featuring games from Demo Days in future Indie Sagas posts, so look forward to that.
